A Basic “About Me”:
I am a Pastor hoping to begin a conversation about God, life, and culture both with my own community of faith and with anyone else that might lend me an ear.
A More Extensive “About Me”:
I am an Adventist pastor writing from the land down under. Except its not the place you might be thinking about. I am writing from El Centro, California that contrary to its Spanish translation is not “at” the center of, nor “is” the center of anything. On second thought, if we consider the center as the middle, then I am in the middle of the desert. Being as it may, this is where I begin, to post my thoughts on God, life and culture
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Who are you? What do you do? Where are you from? Where are you going? Let’s begin a conversation!

Hi! Pastor David, this is Erica from Taiwan. I visited El Centro Church in July. I was browsing through the SDA churches online and found your website by accident.
Your articles have been inspiring and close to real life. (well, i guess they all took place in real life. Heh!) Here’s the link I’d like to share with you and the youth in your church. It’s a Spanish clip for Impact Taiwan. I could hardly understand the conversaiton, but thought you guys might be interested. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLtIC1yITcA
May God bless you and your ministries in the Stats!
Smile,
Erica……

Erica, of course I remember you. I checked out the video it was great. I would really like to go to Taiwan but I am sure that I won’t be able to make it. Thanks for the link.

Hello David. I am intrigued by your blog — and most fascinated! As a pastor in a small Lutheran, rural parish in the middle of Wisconsin, I see a lot of similarities in your comments and in my wanderings. Though I have long ago lost the ability to keep up with the older youth in our congregation and my ministry in white-bread Wisconsin is surely different than yours in California, our questions seem to be the same: Where are we going? How do we get out of this international chaos our current administration has gotten us into? How does call us to be “in this world” but not “of this world?” Where do Christianity’s fundamental ideas fit into our society without being overbearing or judgmental?
FYI - I came across your blog by searching for writings for tonight’s New Year’s Eve service of Silent communion that I offer each year (there are a couple of inclusions from your blog in the handouts I give people to read and think about).
Peace!

Barry, I am thrilled that you have these questions, although I know that sometimes it’s not as comfortable for us when we are trying to wade through our thoughts to try and come to somewhat solid ground to regroup. But I think it is essential to have these questions that you posed, because it keeps us honest and always searching for a deeper understanding of truth as it relates to us. I would like to hear more about your Silent Communion, we have experimented with different types of communion at my church but we still haven’t tried silent communion. Let’s keep talking and discussing these questions. You can email me at daveoceguera@sbcglobal.net or we can keep talking on this blog.
